Background

 

Benign and malignant breast diseases their management and treatment constitutes a significant part of any general surgeons’ work practice. The clinical spectrum varies as well as the diagnostic and treatment options.

 

Clinical exposure and opportunities to attend postgraduate courses offers an opportunity to acquire and share knowledge and experience.

 

BSI has a body of highly experienced breast surgeons who have agreed to contribute to education and training of colleagues in the field of breast surgery.

 

Certain conditions apply for the individual centres. Applicants are advised to correspond directly with the contact persons to ensure that conditions are met. Please note that this faculty is entirely on voluntary basis.

Conditions on site

The centre offers an Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship Training Programme to BSI members from a minimum of two weeks to one year. The fellowship is self funded. There is no tuition fee to the facility and no remuneration for fellows. The fellowship training is based on intensive bed-side teaching, clinical and surgical observation of patient management, live surgeries, MDM-s and lectures. Physicians holding an European licence may be allowed to participate also actively in some interventions. The training is also intended to prepare the physician for the UEMS Examination in Breast Surgery according to EUSOMA guidelines.

Possibilities of enrolling in short term (3 months) to long term (1 year) training program in Endocrine & Breast Surgery some of which involve a nominal fee. Funded fellowship positions may be available for Indian nationals and citizens of SAARC countries. In-campus Guest house or Hostel accommodation can be arranged on nominal payment. Faculty member can visit a unit for clinical, operative, teaching and training work on a philanthropic basis, at lowest expenses.
